There are many programs in Brisbane which are aimed at helping
refugees in a variety of ways. Some of the free activities and

Free English classes for refugees in Newmarket & Annerly
Anglicare
Refugee and Migrant Services - Free English classes for refugees
Newmarket: We have free English classes for refugees and migrants on
Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 1pm at 8 Vivienne Street,

refugees and migrants on Monday-Friday from 10am to 12noon and 1.00pm

Counselling and Support Services
Queensland
Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT)
provides free and confidential assistance to refugees who have
witnessed or experienced torture or trauma. Services include
counselling; advocacy and support services; referral to medical
practitioners, complementary health therapists, and settlement
services; and support to community workers dealing with survivors.

Free English lessons from professional teacher- Romero Community Centre
In
addition to providing community-based support for holders of Temporary
Protection Visas, the Romero Centre has free English lessons every
Monday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm at 40 O’Keefe Street, Buranda.

Homework Club
QPASTT
also run a homework club on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout
the school term from 3:30-5:30pm at 118 Park Rd, Woolloongabba (very
