WE NEED TUTORS!

Currently we require tutors for Brisbane including some who are able to tutor in the suburbs listed below.

North: Chermside, Zillmere, Bracken Ridge
South West: Inala, Acacia Ridge, Sunnybank, Coopers Plains, Eight Mile Plains.
West: Ipswich, Collingwood Park, Goodna.
South: Logan, Woodridge, Beenleigh, including suburbs such as Crestmead, Marsden, Slack's Creek, Kingston and Waterford.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor or would like to know more about what we do, you can find out more about the refugee tutoring program here.

We hold Intake nights every 8 weeks for new tutors. To become a tutor, you will need to attend three compulsory training sessions: Intake Sessions 1, 2 and 3. Visit the Upcoming Events page to find details of the next training and to register.

Where does tutoring take place?

Tutoring almost exclusively occurs at the family's home to make it easier for them to participate.

When you sign up for the Refugee Tutoring program, we ask you to let us know which regions of Brisbane you are available to travel to for tutoring.  We endeavour to match you up with a family who lives in these areas.

We do have families on our waiting list from all over Brisbane.

However, the greatest need is from newly settled refugee families in areas such as:

North: Chermside, Zillmere, Bracken Ridge.
South West: Inala, Acacia Ridge, Sunnybank, Coopers Plains, Eight Miles Plains.
West: Ipswich, Collingwood Park, Goodna
South: Logan, Woodridge, Beenleight, including suburbs such as Creastmead, Marsden, Slack's Creek, Kingston and Waterford.

These are our high-need areas for tutors. If you are able to visit one of these areas, we can match you with a family sooner.

There are also other suburbs, such as New Farm, Bulimba and St Lucia, where we are unlikely to find refugee families.  If you do live in those suburbs, don’t worry – you can still tutor, we just might need to ask you to travel a little bit further to visit your family.

On your first visit, someone who knows the family will take you to their house and introduce you to them.  From then on, you will visit their house each week for tutoring.
