UNHCR recognises World Refugee Day as a salute to the indomitable spirit and courage of the world's refugees.
In
2000, The United Nations General Assembly designated 20 June as World
Refugee Day to recognise and celebrate the contribution of refugees
throughout the world.
Since
then, World Refugee Day has become an annual commemoration marked by a
variety of events around the world, from stand up comics and rock
concerts to conferences and memorial services.
Whether
it's as simple as a village fete, school event, or a high-profile
ceremony, 20 June is a day to think about the world's refugees, and
extend to them our encouragement, support and respect.
VoRTCS continues to remain a strong supporter of the World
Refugee Day Community Festival.
